Past Projects
Social Agriculture in East & West Africa
The Social Agriculture research project was conducted in partnership between the Mastercard Foundation, Caribou Digital, Kilimo Source, Learn.ink and Habitus Insight over several phases from 2022 to 2024.
It formed a part of Caribou Digital's extensive Platform Livelihoods research into the digital transformation of livelihoods and the future of work in the developing world.

Hijink company Founder & Director, Finn Richardson, partnered with Kilimo Source to provide research consultancy, project management and participatory video diary storytelling for the exploratory first phase of the Social Agriculture research in Kenya in 2022-23, in which 'Social Agriculture' was formally defined and documented.
Along with the project leads from phase 1 and a carefully recruited team of local researchers and fixers, Finn also designed and led the phase 2 research in Nigeria in 2023-24 with a focus on value chain analysis and the impact of social media platforms on agricultural value chains.
For an introduction to these projects, take a look at Habitus Insight's beautiful short documentary films from Kenya and Nigeria.
For an in-depth view into the complex value chain analysis conducted for the Nigerian research project, take a look at the interactive Social Agriculture Ecosystem Map (not optimised for mobile).
